How do you keep Ice for long trip

We also bought a Pelican 50 a few years ago. We are on the hook for 5 days at a time and we get ice once. That is not because it melts but we go thru it, if we had the 70q we might make it but the one we have fits the boat good for us.

We have a Yeti to which we had a snap down cushion made when we reupholstered the cockpit seating from the same material. It remains in the aft cockpit doubling as a seating area. Works very well but after a few days of smoothies and Martinis the ice runs out for some odd reason. I did pick up one of those units I mentioned at Costco for an emergency backup though which will be stowed under the floor for those WTF times. Just can't make a Martini without ice.

Can sorta be seen in the picture minus the seating cover we made.

Hans, - prepare the martini shaken, not stirred, and drink them straight up. You get longer resource time out of the ice because you can use it more than once. Your issue may be coming from martini to ice turnover ratio. Make them a little smaller, and drink a little quicker. I had to stop consuming martini's because I developed an allergy. er

Our martinis are alway shaken, never stirred! Bombay Saphire Gin and Noilly Pratt Vermouth shaken with ice and a couple or 3 big queen olives marinated in Vermouth. Served in Riedel Martini glasses, Ohhhh the bliss. https://www.thebay.com/product/riedel-e ... &gclsrc=ds

Oh that sounds delicious. Are you able to get that thin ice to form on the top just after pouring? I can get that effect from vodka, but never got the ice to form with gin. Maybe I was using the wrong glasses. Maybe the glasses were the real culprit with my allergy. I would usually end up with really wobbly legs. Need to look into those glasses. Thanks for the link. er

Nope, not that great at it yet but learning quickly. Small world, both my wife and I also get that leg effect thing you mentioned.

I'm not a gin guy, but another tip.
I keep my tequila in the freezer. When you shake a margarita, it doesn't melt much ice!
And its cold and delicious. I'm sure it would work with Gin also.

We are in this same boat for figuring out what to do. Our new to us Carver has one of the edgestar ice makers out back which works as far as cooling but something in the ice making portion of it does not work. Can't decide if I want to bother trying to replace parts on it to make ice. One thought is removing the maker unit and just store ice in there since it will keep it frozen. Another is the table top like you guys are mentioning, but we'd keep that inside and have to tote ice out to put in there.
