Re: 98 model 405 hot water heater
I have the same pic of me sitting in the space when changing my water heater. My wife got the idea to quickly reassemble the bed and leave me in there. I only wish I was 195lbs im at about 230. Glad you got it all straightened out now.

Good job. I think you know what I mean now when I tell people that accessibility is everything in determining how much it'll cost to repair something.

Very good documentation on this Water heater swap. I have just ordered a replacement for mine a 99 model Seaward S1100. Question, you stated coolant came out of the heat exchanger lines that fed the water heater. Do you have a closed loop system instead of raw water cooling? Also, good to know that is where the spitting and sputtering is coming from as that is irritating. Thanks in advance for any info you can share regarding type of cooling system.

If the engine block is cooled with coolant (fresh water cooled, closed cooling) then that is what will be going through the hot water heater heat exchanger.

Thanks, the comment "covered in coolant" had me concerned I was missing something.
