Carver 33 SS windshield

Post by Helmsman »

As some of you might remember, I sold my 2006 Carver 33 SS this fall. The gentleman who bought the boat had it trucked to an inland lake off of the Tennessee River. Unfortunately, during the move, the windshield was broken during the move. The new owner (a really nice guy new to Carver and big boating in general) is looking for a new one and was able to source a new one for around $10k. However, he wants to continue looking to see if he could source one at a lower price.

He has spoken with Carver and they helped him some. I was wondering if any of you guys had any thoughts or previous experience in sourcing a windshield for a Carver.

I will pass along any comments from you guys and also encourage him to join this site when I meet him after de-winterizing the boat in March. Thanks for any help you can give.

Just my opinion, but 10K sounds insane for just a windshield.

I'm curious to see what other feedback comes in.

Heh there....to be clear ....are you referring to the windshield around the bridge or the salon front window. Did they damage the frame work or just break a window ?
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Considering that, have they looked into the auto glass repair sector... now maybe that quote was from these guys. They cut and fit custom tempered glass, maybe not all the providers but some up here do that.....the cost to remove the old bits and replace/reseal I can't say......but I have had mobile guys remove and re install classic car front and rear windows fairly reasonable, I don't see why the relatively flat glass on that boat would pose many oddball issues......Good luck.

Thanks, I will suggest that.
