New Carver owner

Postby Stevekw » January 2nd, 2021, 11:53 pm

I’m buying a 1988 Carver 3607. It’s almost a local boat as it’s in Stockton and I am in Sacramento. Stockton is only about an hours drive down I-5 but it’ll be the entire day coming back on the Carver. Actually I’m planning on taking a few days at it and spending some quality time down in the Delta. I grew up water skiing and still have the 61 Chris-Craft Cavalier my parents bought new but this is my first big boat. My dad had a 1955 30 foot Owens with twin Grey Marine sixes many years ago. Hopefully I can take what I learned from driving that not wreck Heaven Scent. That’s the name of the 3607 I am buying and since I haven’t come up with a better name I guess I’m keeping it. I think she spent her entire life in freshwater undercover. At least that’s how she looks. I haven’t been this excited in a long time.

Welcome aboard. My first bigger than a runabout boat was a 28 foot 1961 Chris Craft Connie. Great boat for me at the time. Used to do a lot of scuba diving and the aft deck was great for that.

Good luck with the purchase. Keep us posted and take some pictures for us ;-)

Welcome aboard!!

I had an older 3607 and it was a great boat. There are several current 3607 owners on here too.

I had no idea there was a navigable deep waterway and a port all the way up to Sacramento!! Learn something new every day!! Had no idea you could take the Sacramento River so far either. Looks like a pretty cool area to go boating, as I see destinations all up and down the river.

Post some pics when you get a chance!

We just bought an '85 3607 in September. Enjoyed the one week we had on it. Looking forward to the spring!
