Does anyone know of or ever heard of anyone installing a davit on the top of the aft deck on a 506?
We are pulling the trigger on a 2000 506. I climbed the folding ladder and to check out the equipment on the arch and the area around the sliding sky lite and found that the deck up there is quite substantial with nonskid on the surface. It seems like it would be capable of storing a dink up there so I could remove the davit from the swim platform. It is a long way up to winch a dink I know.

Might get a electric winch to help on that distance to the new location on top.

Even if it will hold it, that's a lot of weight up pretty high too, especially if you leave the motor on.
How is that going to affect the ride quality with roll?

My advice when it comes to things like this is always the same.......Consult with the boat builder about any changes to the boat structure.....you may find all is well to do certain things, but there may be limits so you don't compromise it's safe operation or the owners safety regarding structure damage......good luck with your new boat.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Rusty,
Did you ever figure out a way to get a dinghy on the 506 roof?
I just bought a 2003 506 and would like to figure out a way to put a low weight dinghy (~250 pounds) on my aft roof.
