Alarm help

I am the new owner of a 2006 41CMY gasoline engines 8.1 Volvo I have noticed that owners talk about alarms for engines/ transmission and misc. equipment. I am looking for some help on creating a list of possible alarms I may have. Thanks in advance forum members are great

Don't know your specific boat but but I would guess low oil pressure alam for sure. Also possible fume detector , auto fire extinguisher discharge, engine check light/alarm. I have these on my 405 and I also installed a temp sensor on my exhaust that shows temp on my electronics so I can monitor temp and if water flow slows or stops I will see the rise quickly before overheating.

In addition to the above, there are engine temp alarms. You should always monitor engine temp gauges, but if an engine gets hot enough, an alarm should sound, and the engine will shut down. You also should have a high water alarm in the bilge, in case water is getting in and a pump is being overwhelmed or not running. Best thing to do is call Carver with your hull #, and they can easily check your build log to tell you exactly how that vessel departed the factory. Do you have the owners manual? Some owners add alarms along the way also. er

Your standard alarms (ignition buzzer) are:
Low oil pressure
High Coolant temp
High Trans temp

If you can find out what engine control units you have on the engines ( Volvo )....should be in your engine manuals ( hopefully ). There will be an explanation of the alarms associated with your power units.....what certain alarm sound sequences mean etc and hopefully some troubleshooting. A good thing to know when underway and things get exciting ...
