Gray water tank level
I’m a new carver 42 SS owner. How or where is the gauge that’s tells me how much water is in the grey water tank. I have read the owners manual but there’s no information on this.

Re: Gray water tank level
I just assumed there was one. But now that I looked in the hole I didn’t see a tank and there’s not a pump out cap on deck any where.

Re: Gray water tank level
Lots of places a grey water tank was not required, just black water. Sometimes there's provisions in the boat for a tank to be installed, in case it is used in an area requiring one.
For most boats the grey water is just run or pumped overboard.

run the water in your galley sink. look for it to come out of a through hull above the water line, most likely very near the sink. If you see the water coming out the side of the boat, you have no grey water tank.

Re: Gray water tank level
I'm a new Carver owner so I'm far from being an authority on these cool vessels. That said, when I voiced the same question to a pal of mine, he suggested that grey water might be automatically vented overboard as it's produced. Not so with the Black water though. I'm still hunting for the blackwater level indicator/gauge, assuming there actually is one.
Hope this helps...

Not sure about the SS, but usually the waste tank gauges are either in the heads near the toilets or in the main electrical panel.
They are also usually an option and not always installed.

Do you have a breaker or breakers in your 12v panel for waste tank level?

Re: Gray water tank level
On the 506 there are grey water sumps that the water form the showers and sinks drain too and then it is pumped overboard like a bilge is. There iare two tanks with pumps and float switches. On one of the panels there are a couple of manual sump switches that override the float switches. there are no gauges and also there are no deck ports to evacuate the tank like the black water tanks have.
Try to only boat where ducks don't walk

Re: Gray water tank level
I have a Carver 420 MY. The indicator for the black water tank is located in the toilet cabinets and shows a lighted display of whether they are filled up or not.
My aft black water display showed it was completely filled and now unable to flush! The forward toilet is fine. I still can't find the switch to empty the black water tanks. Anyway knows where they are likely to be?
I couldn't find them on the electrical control panels. Are they in the engine compartment?
Thanks for your kind help
Best regards
