I don’t pretend to know what these boat makers do in their corporate dealings but one thing is clear…..Viper, if what you say about the day to day operations is correct , then they have failed once again.
The marine industry as a whole needs a better view of it’s customers , repair people and sales support IMO…..although I will say that Carver appears to be quite helpful considering the anecdotal evidence presented here… I agree in this case we are lucky....So Carver keep up the good work and hopefully the OP will get the help he needs with his new boat.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I can understand how an OEM should protect itself from warranty issues by keeping some things private until their exposure is mitigated. We have all seen some unusual modifications that impact far beyond the initial connection. People can be a little off center. The thing that I have trouble with is when a consumer feels like he can't have an open dialogue with his dealer because the dealer looks to cash in every time. When you lay out that kind of money, you should be embraced by your dealer, not treated like a sugar daddy. I really admire Carver's customer service. Especially impressed by their support to people who own older models. They know a one time sale is not what success is built upon. 8-) er

I've never looked but will put the question out there out of curiosity; how easy is it to get a concise, full electrical/electronic schematic of a modern car from any OEM or one of their dealers?

As long as you're willing to pay for a set of factory Service Manuals, pretty easy. I have a set for my truck that shows every wire, every connector along with a plethora of troubleshooting information.

I would not expect all that on a boat, but certainly a wiring diagram should be available.
