Hello, folks -
I need to replace the fume detector/bilge sniffer in my new-to-me 1988 3807 double cabin. The connectors on the new unit are different from the ones on the existing one, so will have to run a new cable from the helm console to the engine compartment. I know all wiring and control cables run from the console under a raised bridge sole through the seat to starboard of the helm seat then into an opening in the radar arch. They exit in the after starboard corner of the engine compartment. I'm sure the new cable isn't going to willingly find its way down, so there must be a way to access the "chase" to help it along - but I haven't a clue how and where to get at it. No obvious hatches, panels with mounting screws, etc. Any and all thoughts will be appreciated!

Welcome aboard.
The aft wall has a large panel from floor to ceiling if I remember correctly that comes off. It also provides access to the dockside water inlet and you'll also see access to the outlet and water faucet to the right of your cockpit ice maker if you have those options.

If your existing cable has enough conductors, maybe just change out the ends.
Heat shrink the connections in the engine room if you do.

Re: Instrument able routing
Thanks, guys. Had a chance to get to the boat the other day and check out the advice. Lo and behold, the starboard-most (word?) teak panel in the after bulkhead shows small screws. Now just have to wait for warmer weather - it was 35 degrees in the cabin that day.
Tom, where are you in the upper bay? I'm in Charlestown Marina.
