Anchor Windlass breaker

I just purchased my first Carver a couple of weeks ago. It is a 2001 404 CPMY. Can anyone tell me how to operate the anchor windlass breaker that is under the stairs leading from outside to the salon? It is a round red button and I can't tell if it should be pull out or pushed down? I can't seem to get power to switch at the control station and I am not sure if it's related to the red breaker/button?

Push on...Pull off......takes some force....listen for the faint click, it doesn't move much.

There should be breakers at the hem and may have one in the rode locker?

It’s not very user friendly and around $300 to have Skipper Buds replace. Mine was found inop on our survey and the owner insisted on fixing before delivery. I asked the salesman the cost and that’s what he told me. Hope yours is just off.

Just make sure a 3 amp slow blow inline fuse under the windlass in the bow hasn't blown.

Thanks for posting.....I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to hear the designing engineers discussion about how this red button nonsense is better than a switch type.

Something like , But Bob, why don't we just use a regular breaker...... Bob," Heh, we can really mess with all the owners with this button type, the bonus is ,it barely moves so no one will know whether it's on or off." "Good then maybe we can sell parts until someone figures it out.".... ..

I have a similar problem with my 404 Carver. Did you locate the source?

Yes, you have to push it down. It took quite a lot of effort. My wife actually figured it out after I had been anchoring by hand crank for a week. She just slapped it and down it went. Really poor design. No indication of breaker location. Now when I want to cut power to it I have to use pliers as the red button just pulls off (the threads are stripped). Bud37 is right, who the hell decided this was a good idea for a breaker???
