Re: Welcome to CarverYachtOwners.com!
Hi all,
I'm in the process of buying a Carver Riviera 83-89 and trying to find the right one.
We're in fresh water and wondering if anyone can provide advice on purchasing this model with the standard Onan generator or whether a larger battery bank and an inverter is a better option. Realize it depends on the amount of power needed but all things being equal...any advice?
Thanks
GBay

Welcome to the forum. I would vote for the genny. When your batteries are dead what are you gonna do? The genny can also provide power for hot water, A/C, refridge and TV's along with the battery charger.

Thanks AaHubb! Is anyone aware of any major problems with older Onan Generators - the standard model was the 3.0. Any info on costs to repair or refurbish?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Re: Welcome to CarverYachtOwners.com!
First boat was a new Riviera in 1988. A little bit of a pounder in weather but a great overall boat. Boated in Lake Michigan (New Buffalo), Chesapeake Bay (Kent Island), and Pacific Ocean (Ventura), then back to Lake Michigan (Port Washington) before we sold her.
I think she went farther on land than by sea!

Hello all,
Currently on the market for a Carver. Specifically a 350 Mariner. Currently have a Bayliner 2850. Any input on that model would be appreciated.
