Exhaust Elbow Replacement

I am trying to find a replacement rubber elbow for my exhaust system. I have a 2000 Carver Voyager with Cummins 450 Diesels. This elbow is right after the exhaust-water injection elbow. It is a 6" ID, 90 deg. rubber elbow that measures 16"x12".
I have found a similar replacement that is about 12"x12" that works, but not ideal. Big Rig shops carry these, mostly for intakes.

By the way, the hole is from a muskrat that made his way in but did no other damage. I was very lucky that was all!

I'd be inclined to replace that with a stainless piece and use a couple small sections of exhaust or silicone hose to attach it on both ends.

Welcome aboard. Ya you can do the same with a fiberglass elbow if you can't find the original part. Contact Carver with your hull number, they may be able to give you the part number and supplier info.

Welcome.....muskrats yup they are quite destructive.....anyway did you inspect the inside of the other hoses and fittings on that side and the other......sometimes they get in but don't chew all the way thru hoses causing trouble down the road when under power.

After repair consider some good stainless muskrat guards for the exhaust outlets....I put guards on our last two boats after seeing evidence, they have sunk many boats at the dock......good luck man.

Thanks all for good advice. My next haul out I will install guards. Several boats in our marina have had worse results from muskrats, nearly sunk!
Presently I have fitted fenders that fit tight into the exhaust from the water side and attached a line to each so I can pull them out. That also provide tail-tale signs of another intrusion should it happen. Easy to remove.

I use the fender method also, we have mink and muskrat in our area and we also have to put screen netting over our side air vents to keep the critters out, they find it to be a fine place to dine on their fish dinners and what a stink they leave in a boat!
