Hope it works out for you. Welcome Aboard. The survey should give you most if not all the information you will need to go forward or pass. Good Luck.

Well its official, I took ownership of my 1997 Carver 405 with plans to move it from Myrtle to Charleston. Two days later, Hurricane Joaquin had other plans. The maiden voyage took to the ICW last Friday, and took a day to get their filled with memories of the good and not so good all the way, including a rough night anchored on the ICW in deteriorating conditions. Needless to say, I developed a well rounded respect for both my Carver's ability and the sea as all systems were properly tested and I found areas to clean, repair, and modify along the way. The only company we had were the dolphins who seemed to be the entertainment throughout the trip. I left Charleston yesterday and it took me 5 1/2 hours to get to the NC line.

During the time on the boat, I know it needed to be cleaned. However their was a strong odor present that I initially thought was coming from the septic system. Later dampness and minimal mold was found to be entering from around the starboard salon window. The smell even permeated through my duffell bag to transfer the odor onto clean items brought aboard for the trip. I plan to de-humidify, ionize, and baking soda the boat later this week with a deserved exterior cleaning as well. I am looking for recommendations from experience on this forum of what could be causing the odor, and how to prevent it and freshen it up.

Additionally, I need to replace the sea water pump on the 7.0 BCG Westerbeke as it appears the seal was leaking during operation. Any recommendations for a decent replacement seller with reasonable prices would be welcomed. :usa:
