City water pressure

Post by pepmyster »

Guys, I'm sure this has been discussed before. I went to the boat to glue down my Sea Deck, I connected my city water hose to the boat. No pressure out of taps. Pressure , a lot, from the end of the hose but when I connected it to the boat, nada. I searched because I'm sure this has happened. Please enlighten me.
Mucho thanks, Andrew

Thats an odd one as there are no valves that I know of. How is your heater by pass valve configured? Could be it is still in some weird configuration/position not allowing water to pass? Some have 3 valves and others have a single 3 way valve. If by mistake all 3 valves are closed it could very well be the cause.

I did not touch the valves you speak of. The one going to the hot water on the tank is in the flow position. As for the cold water to tank, it's the same. The one in the middle of both , looks like a blending valve, is in cut mode. You know what I mean? And after reading Viper's last post about marinas and the people just hanging around, I'm willing to go back until lock down is over.

If valves are in the correct position then maybe a stuck check valve at the inlet? Running short on suggestions here as this is pretty simple plumbing.

Very simple plumbing. But, I had to get out of there , didn't feel right. When I find out what it is, I'll write the answer.

I had a water inlet check valve issue with symptoms just as you have. I had another I had for my rv so I changed the water inlet out with the new.

I changed mine out last year simply because I had not so great water pressure when on city water compared to the on board pump. Definitely corrected the issue.

Is this check valve right at the inlet?

I had a similar issue with our city water. Too much pressure would occasionally cause the check valve to lock up and block the supply of water. I bought a pressure regulator and installed it inline on the hose. I set it to 35PSI and haven't had a problem since.
Try disconnecting the hose and then reconnecting and then only turn the tap halfway open and see if it helps. It's always something simple!
