Hey all, just bought my 2000 Carver 406 with 7.4L Mercruiser MPIs. I love everything about it so far!

One question, does anyone have fuel burn numbers for my engine combo?

I would love to know what I'm burn at 500 rpm increments.

I look forward to all of the great advice on this forum!

I had a 4207 gas engined pig. Great boat; driving it not so much. And it really sucked up fuel. And could not get out of its own way. I;d have kept that boat forever if I knew better and had purchased one with 500 Cats.

I ended up buying the top of the line FloScan, and also installed the Bennet trim-dicators.

Let me tell, just a slight change in trim and rpm made a HUGE difference in fuel consumption.

Fuel consumption will go down the older the boat gets. Not because of age, but because we tend to store much more stuff on the boat all the time. Think of the weight of everything non-stock on your boat.

Then add in electronics, spare get-home parts and tools, all the water and fuel in the tanks, the waste in the waste tank, dishes, silverware, lines, bumpers, PFDs, food, towels, pillows, and on and on.
Thanks
Fred
