Underwater lights opinions

for what it is worth, I didn't want to spend a lot on the underwater lights because I wasn't sure if it was just a novelty that would eventually just not get used. I decided to take a chance on the Husuku SOOP3 lights from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088GYJFP2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They are really bright on land, and pretty good under water... I would say not as bright as the ones above.... Drilling the hull wasn't a huge issue... Famous last words.... I think it was an 1/8 hole to feed the wires though. The lights have a built-in rubber gasket, but I also used Sikaflex 291 and made sure I had a good squish.

I have always loved the under water lights. I thought maybe I was just a dork for wanting it but this past weekend we rafted up with friends with boats twice the size of ours and their underwater lights off the swim platform were amazing.

For one thing, it really lit things up as we walked from boat to boat.
For another, they attracted sea life. we were watching eels dance in the lights one evening. Very cool!

I made some lights several years back however like anything home made there are sometimes issues first time around. The problem was they were made of aluminum which acted as anodes so they were wearing away slowly, not that much of an issue but none the less did not look cool when on the hard. The other issue was I poured resin to seal everything in and water proof it all. This lasted until last fall when on haul out I noticed the resin had cracked which was probably due to different expansions of material over time. I just bought 4 new lights to replace my DIY units, tried to find something relatively cheap and that would fit the area and wiring I already had. This seems to be perfect for me. Oddly enough they are exactly the same diameter as my custom units, just need to make a stainless adapter to fit the existing holes and the new unit. They claim 2500 lumen which is probably not true but the entire casing is made of thermal resin which should hold up forever.
