New to boating, new member, and Carver Closed!

Postby ddjinks » July 8th, 2021, 5:36 pm

Hi to all. Just recently purchased my first boat (ok, second, if you count a little fishing boat 30 years ago), a 1990 Carver 4207 with CAT 3208s for use on Old Hickory Lake near Nashville. Found out today while trying to track down owner manuals and such that Carver has officially closed it's doors. The contact number on their website is disconnected. Spoke with a Carver dealer in Florida who gave me a contact - Brian - a now previous employee of 24 yrs with Carver. He said that I should download all I can from the website, because it will be taken down soon. Timing is everything, right? Mine, maybe not so good. So, going to rely on this forum to teach me the ins and outs. Looking forward to it.

Welcome aboard!
Owner's manuals don't tell you much. As in, all the manuals for engines, transmissions, appliances, aftermarket electronic equipment, water heater, pumps, etc, will be found on the OEM's websites.
Best thing to do is make a list of equipment IDs and start looking for those manuals to download.
Carver built the boat, they did not build the equipment installed.
Thanks

Thanks waybomb (Fred). Thought that would be the case. Went to Kohler's website and found out they have nothing. A person I've gotten to know at the marina confirmed that as well. Oh, well. Cheers.

If you're looking for a Kohler generator manual, post the model number. Chances are one of us has it, or search on line and I suspect you'll find a file you can download.

Welcome aboard ddjinks! Where are you at on Old Hickory Lake? We used to be at Cedar Creek when we were there.

To ColRon - Small world. The boat is at Cedar Creek. Was at Gallatin Marina. Trying to get my repair resources together.

To Viper - I actually found the Operation & Maintenance manual for the Kohler gen I have (Model 8CC0) at colburnpower.com. Just takes time finding everything. Thanks.
