Toilet stopped working
The toilet in the forward head has stopped working. The breakers are on and the water is running. The tank is not full. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The bowl is full and will not drain.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Toilet stopped working
I'm assuming it's a Vacuflush? If so, does the vacuum pump run at all? If not, check to see if there is an inline fuse at the pump and if there is power going to the pump. If there is no power there, see if there is power at the pressure switch. Do you have a switch in the head by the toilet that needs to be turned on first?

What kind of toilet do you have....electric or vacu flush ??....maybe just a clog.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Thanks everyone. I spent an ugly day Sunday clearing a clog at the toilet. Also, replaced two duck bills. It worked but I have my fingers crossed there is no future problems.

Re: Toilet stopped working
I suggest a high fiber diet for starters! Of course the usual albeit some times awkward training of crew and guests of the sensitivity of marine toilets and what should and should not go down the system. I have friends that have a waste basket with an auto lid for depositing used TP. I can't go there, I do not want to deal with anyone's poo rags personally. I just tell newbies to use as little TP as possible and if several sheets are needed to deal with a bigger issue, feel free to use plenty of water and multiple flushes between TP doses. A little common sense goes along way. I also use Zaal No Flex digester and biologic cleaner religiously to keep the entire system clean and free flowing.

How much of the digester do you use each time and how frequently is it used? I see the bottle contains 16.8 oz. Thanks.

Re: Toilet stopped working
About a table spoon a day per person while on board and then a couple of table spoons upon leaving the boat idle during the season is what the guys over on the Club Searay forum suggest using. There is also quite a conversation amongst the guys in the larger boats that spend alot of time cruising, in a home brew recipe that one of them came up with after doing some research on the MSDS forms. I buy it when it is on sale at Marine Sanitation supply
and stock up with a $100 order and get free shipping as the shipping darn near doubles the cost of the product when buying just one or two at a time.

Re: Toilet stopped working
We recently were on a friends boat where this was implemented. They provided small zip bags for the "dirty" TP and just a garbage bin for the used TP. The garbage was collected each day and deposited into a large tub on the deck.

Re: Toilet stopped working
I have a 3207 '89 Carver, with mercerator toilets. Both do not work and have the same issue. When you push the button the breaker is thrown, this occurs on both. When the other quit it sound like a bad garbage disposal (I understand the principle is the same). What I would like to know is where to find parts for these issues. Thank you in advance.~Tony
