We have purchased a 2006 Carver 466 Motor Yacht. We are the third owners and the boat has never been documented. We are trying to do this now. All of the application forms require that the Overall length, Beam and Overall depth be provided. I have the numbers for the length and beam. The overall depth number is driving me nuts. I have tried to obtain it from the previous owners, the selling broker, Carver and a few dealers as well as the Coast Guard. No one can help me. Without this information I can not submit the documentation request.
So, if someone with a documented Carver 466 motor yacht would look at their Certificate of Documentation and let me know what the number is in the "Depth" box, I would really appreciate it.

Re: Carver 466 Motor Yacht Documentation Problem
Believe me…it doesn’t have to be exact. I’m guessing the draft is close to 4’, so just put down 4’ and call it a day. Don’t sweat small stuff.
My 356 draws about 3-1/2’. Somehow, my documentation is listed at 6.3 feet. If I ever get stopped, the coasties or marine police won’t even notice it and if they did, no one is jumping overboard with a tape measure.
I’m guessing it should have been listed at 3.6 but a clerical error reversed it to 6.3.
Are you sure it was never documented? Maybe the first owner did, but the second owner let it lapse. Dig around the bilge or other hidden places to see if there is a CG Doc number. Unusual for a boat that big not to be documented.

On my documentation certificate it shows 7.4, which is wrong. Not sure where that number came from, but there it is. Length at 46.7 and breadth at 14.8 are correct. Hope this helps.

Re: Carver 466 Motor Yacht Documentation Problem
The number that is needed is from the bottom of the hull to the deck. I took a WAG snd set it to 7'-9". Submitted the paperwork to the USCG. Now I wait. The last I heard they were handling requests from early June.

Re: Carver 466 Motor Yacht Documentation Problem
draft and distance bottom hull to deck apparently is the difference in measuring. Where are you supposed to measure that, as if the boat is a square box with a nice equal distance from bow to stern between deck and bottom hull....
But as mentioned: no one is going to swim with a tape measure to check it out. Draft you might want to be more interested in yourself though...

Not that it really matters for your documentation, but that boat doesn't draft over 4'.
