Fresh Water Level Gauge

Well, I tried to fix my fresh water level sensor today and was entirely unsuccessful. It never reads full empty when empty to I attempted to adjust the pucs, the low level puc stopped working after about 2 turns.

Anyone ever replace one of these? How do you get it out? I tried removing the screws and they just spin.

I suspect they are all glued down and stripped out, is this common?

Any suggested replacement systems?

It could be the guage and not sensor,have you verified the guage is operational? , the top is screwed down into the plastic its also probably sealed and that's probably holding it to the tank too, might have to pry up a little at the same time while turning the mounting screw to get it to back out

They come with a gasket but do you also see any sign that there's caulking between the unit and the tank? It may just need to be carefully pried up at each screw location while you undo each screw. I can't see the tank having embedded nuts so they may just be screws going into a thickened section of the tank and the holes for each are stripped so prying may help but go easy, or try grabbing each screw with a pair of pliers and pull while you turn.

The screws are simply threaded into the plastic, so if they just spin they have been stripped.
Carefully remove them, hopefully you can go up one size to install the new sender.
Call centroid, they are nice to deal with. You need to give them tank depth and gauge resistance. When I replaced mine, I also replaced the gauge with a new KUS gauge.

Test the sensor with an ohm meter directly on the screw terminals. black to one of the orange wires and black to the other orange wire. With a a full tank you will see if the empty/full readings are correct. Contact Centroid to see what the figures should be.

The adjusters don't move very much to get deflection on the gage.....you will have to adjust a bit when you know the tank is M/T then after you fill the tank....it may take a few tries as these things are no that accurate. My experience anyway.

Remove, cap and seal the opening, or simply disconnect and replace with an external sensor & monitor.

I'm installing one of these on my waste holding tank on our '96 370 Voyager, which never had a level indicator.... .. plan to do the same on our fresh water tank(s).

I have a similar "outside the tank" sensor monitoring system made by Tech-Edge. I have an extra one for a project I didn't end up doing, if anyone is interested in adding that kind of monitor to their vessel. It does multiple tanks and has customizable alarms.
