Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
It would be interesting to ask those guys what tools they used to answer some of the more basic questions. Parts suppliers, part number cross references, construction techniques, drawings, etc...
Is any of that information still available to them, and do they have an NDA that prevents them from sharing?
I agree that it could get overwhelming depending on the level of questions. Viper could probably attest to the redundant questions he sees and has the patience to answer.
Maybe a poll asking the collective here what information they would like to see or have answered would give these folks an idea of what they are getting into.

Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
Maybe just create one thread for "Open questions for factory info" that he could monitor. I'd hate to make him have to read through any new postings to have to sort through what might need attention (although he's more that welcome to!). Maybe the regulars can prompt posters in any particular thread when this might be recommended to do, along with some suggestions on what info to include to avoid some of the back-and-forth and wasted time.

Perhaps instead of a thread that could be monitored in might be simpler to add a new section that he could monitor. A thread could get lost in the jumble of other threads. Just a suggestion.

In my opinion if you were to create any separate threads/sections you may be creating a job and perhaps some responsibility for this person. If Mike wants to join up and read threads and contribute his knowledge it should be at his discretion with no apparent responsibility to answer/respond........just my two cents.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
Amen to that, I have to confess that I simply have to ignore some threads for the lack of time. If a thread gets ahead of me, I simply don't have the time to go through all the posts in detail to see what's already been suggested and sometimes at the risk of being redundant and not contributing anything new, I simply don't respond.
We also have to keep in mind is that there are a lot of PMs thrown around that would also take his time if decides to follow up. I try to encourage people to start a thread so everyone could benefit from the discussion.
We're all doing good as a team here, his knowledge would be a great asset.

Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
Hello
Thanks to everyone working on this. I am in manufacturing and it seemed to me that pat had access to well organized bill of materials on each boats. This made it easy for pat to take a hull Id and provide the specifics of a build With more precision than the pdf that was on the site. He could have been working from memory but some of his answers were very precise. For example he gave me the manufacture of my ac pump with model etc. perhaps the “ask” to cruisers would be to make the bill of materials available ?

Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
The library of resource information included the build logs for each hull. So that made it pretty easy for Pat and Brian to get accurate info. They could even tell you exactly how thick your hull was because that was part of the series of measurements recorded during hull construction. Unfortunately, that library of information is owned by the estate of the previous owner. It was not included in the Cruisers purchase. Mike would be answering questions by memory, in the generic form. Not all models used the same OEM for parts, but Carver tried to be somewhat generic in hulls built for dealer distribution. Lot's of good thinking going on here. Is there a way to create a "Legacy questions tab section" ? That would make things a lot easier for Mike. I would probably advise him to turn off the PM function to his account.

Re: Update on Carver resource attempt.
Cooler, Am I correct that you knew the previous owner? If the Build information of each hull is documented and owned by the estate of the previous owner, what is the possibility that an arrangement could be made with the estate for each owner to possibly purchase of copy of their individual build information. I would be happy to pay for a copy of the build information related to my specific HIN. Maybe access to them could be set up through the forum also or a link. I may be way out in left field here...but crazier things have happened in the world.

Viper, I would think it would add some value to the boat also to have that information. I know if I was buying a boat that had the manufacturers build information included I would be more impressed with the purchase. That's not just something you see everyday.
