Electrical switch
The attached photos are of what appears to be a dimmer switch in the master state room of my 1997 Carver 405. It does not work and I don't know what it's for. Can anybody tell me what it does?

Re: Electrical switch
Could it be a remote volume for the stereo?

Re: Electrical switch
The technical term is an L-pad. It acts as a volume control for remote speakers while maintaining a constant load to the stereo.

Re: Electrical switch
Ahh, maybe that is why the interior stereo speakers are not functioning. I will give it a look and see if that is the problem. Thank you.

Can you tell me the "why" one would want a constant load to the amp? Does a built in fader in the head unit do the same thing, meaning, allows for a constant amp load?
Thanks

Yea, my bad. "Load" isn't really the right term. I should have said impedance. An L-pad maintains the impedance (8 ohms) to the amp while varying the signal to the speakers.
