In my 405 the transducer is mounted under the stbd engine .You could try temporarily mounting it to check different locations if you are concerned about how it will work.

Sometimes you can connect up the transducer, put it in a zip lock bag full of water and place around different areas to find a good spot. The water will allow the signal to get to and thru the hull.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Ok, moving on to the next question about in-hull transducer install.. Trying to determine the wire routing from engine bay to flybridge panel Anyone know the wiring route or suggestions where one might look online to determine wire routing engine to flybridge.

Thanks in advance for any input

Start in the engine compartment and follow the throttle and shift cables. They'll go through the ceiling usually in a corner by a bulkhead. Above that area in the cabin, look for a wall panel or vent, speaker, etc., anything that can be removed to gain access to the chase where cables and wiring are routed to the bridge.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner but I can tell you exactly how the pathway is from engine room to bridge. If you still need help let me know

Ok, got a plan, tested the p79 transducer... Looking under starboard engine. A reading from there straight down will be 1ft less than needed because the 24" prop 4 blade spins my guess from pic's is about 1ft lower than the reading I would get, IS MY THOUGHT ON THIS CORRECT ? Have looked in my Original Carver manual and online but not found waterline profile to see actual height differences from hull bottom area including props...

Thoughts ?

Thank you all once again for any input

Is your boat still in the water? If it is, the problem with installing a ducer blind or without assessing the outside of the potential location is that you could be installing it in a spot that gets turbulence from something else forward of it while underway, this will result in less than optimal and erratic readings. You could also be installing it right above a strake that's not evident from the bilge but could influence its efficiency.
