Hello from Nashville, TN

Post by rmidgett »

We are not yet Carver owners. We plan to cruise the Great Loop early in retirement in about six years. We're window shopping for boats to consider and the Carver boats seem to have much to offer.
I'm also interested in learning about marinas along the Tennessee River and Tenn-Tom Waterway for keeping the boat. It's entirely possible that we'll want to move to a home on/near navigable water where we can have our own boat dock/house for keeping the boat. Perhaps there are communities along the water that have a community boat shed/house; would like to learn about such opportunities.
We look forward to learning over the next several years. :captain2:

Hello and welcome. I live north of chattanooga on the Tennessee. Wr bought our carver at Green turtle Bay in Paducah and brought her home about 450 miles. , what a fun trip that was. Heres one book we used you might want to check out for navigation and other info on the entire Tennessee river. It helped us plan our trip and were looking forward to traveling more on it. ...https://www.landfallnavigation.com/tenn ... w0QAvD_BwE

Welcome aboard and best of luck on finding the perfect Carver for you. We use to slip our boat in the Nashville area at Cedar Creek Marina in Mt Juliet. It was a nice marina, but just a little bit to far of a drive ever weekend, so we moved closer to home. On the Tennessee River river between KY Dam at Gilbertsville, KY and New Johnsonville, Tn are quite a few marinas and to add to the mix on the Cumberland between Green Turtle Bay in Grand River, KY and Lake Barkley State Park are quite a few more. There is no shortage on Marina's on the North end of the Tennessee (KY Lake) and Cumberland Rivers (Lake Barkley).

I would recommend securing a slip before final purchase. Slips around Chattanooga are scarce at decent marinas. Most have a waiting list. Just went looking this past weekend and the marina I am dealing with guaranteed a slip because I am buying a boat through their dealer.
