Carver 370 voyager
Hi everyone I am seriously looking at a 94 voyager and have read all the posts but still have a few questions. How well does the boat handle rough seas? When we were at the marina the water lapping on the boat seemed to echo and made it a very loud boat is it my imagination. If I needed to replace the couch what fits, would like a sleeper type sofa. Is maintenance access reasonable? Do the fuel tanks need replacing or are they generally bullet proof? Any other thoughts on this boat would be appreciated. Thx

Re: Carver 370 voyager
On the fuel tanks, it really depends on the history of the boat. If it sat in saltwater all its life or had water trapped around the base of the tank, that can be issues. Also, (especially on diesel) if there's been water inside the tank that can cause corrosion from the inside. Age alone is not a good indicator. I just sold an 83 and upon inspection of the tanks you'd describe them as "like new". There are certain boats with certain tanks that have had issues (the late 90's/early 00's 356 aux tank), but I'm not aware of any similar concerns with Voyagers.

I have a 98. We boat from Block Island to Nantucket. 6 foot seas will cause you to slow down but have never felt unsafe under these conditions. The previous owner had the tank pulled in 2014 for inspection and was in A-1 condition. The forward cabin can be noisy under the right wind direction but have never had an issue sleeping there. Get a pair ear plugs if needed. I have them for my wife's snoring.

Sleeper Sofa: I found that the RV community have the same issues and found the following source after a lot of research, Shop4Seats.com (https://shop4seats.com/rv-furniture/sof ... -beds.html). I ended up buying the QUALITEX MODESTO II RV SLEEPER SOFA BED with tilt-down arm rest and pull-out under drawer storage in leather ('ette) for ~$1,500 USD at the perfect size to fit the salon, with delivery due MAY'22. They have a lot of sizes, styles, fabrics, and configurations to choose from. Best of luck! Ed O.
