440 - 4207 Different draft
Hello. does anybody know why the 440 draws 6" more water than the 4207. They look the same to me.
The 4207 specs say 3.5' and the 440 is 4'.
Thanks Sam

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
4207 with gas, 440 with diesel? Larger diameter props on the diesel?
Just a guess.
Just a guess.
Thanks

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
Just comparing some specs...
They both have a beam of 15', but
The 440 has a 15 degree deadrise, vs the 4207 at 12 degrees
The 440 displaces 32,000 lbs, vs the 4207 at 23,600
The 440 shows up at 47'8" overall length, vs the 4207 at 42'

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
I wonder if that difference is the "bow pulpit and swim platform" thing? I got those specs out of the Powerboat Guide

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
Be careful what the specs say I’m not sure how they measure but our 41CMY measurement from waterline to bottom of prop is 16 inches more than all the spec. say

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
Curious. What is your actual draft? The PowerBoat guide lists that boat at 31 inches, which seems a little light, but adding another 16 inches inches to that would seem really excessive for that kind of displacement. Do you have prop pockets?

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
Measured yesterday while on the hard it is 47inches from water line to bottom of propeller I would guess the 31” would be to the front of rear strut

Re: 440 - 4207 Different draft
The best way is to measure your own boat like Steve did, even the same type and size hull will have different measurements when the internal mechanicals are different, for example, diesels, straight drive inboards, "v" drive inboards and pods. The down angle changes can alter measurements.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
