Splash 2022
Took the last season off with the Carver to finish up my Shamrock. This morning,my Carver went in for this season. Engines fired right up and I ran her down to my dock. It felt weird after running a single engine boat for a while. Definitely easier with twins.

No,I have a giant oak tree in my yard and if the seeds get on the boat,it's a bitch to get the stains out.

Re: Splash 2022
I pick up my new boat on Friday. If the weather cooperates I could splash for the first time and do my shake down cruise on Saturday. Early forecast is not promising though.

Since you're now trailerable, might be nice to head south a few miles and drop it in a warmer lake!!

Re: Splash 2022
Always a possibility. I am planning a trip to Michigans Upper Peninsula this summer and hope to do some boating on Lake Superior. I've already boated on Lakes Michigan, Huron and Erie. Just Superior and Ontario to go.

Re: Splash 2022
Splash yesterday and our first going through the locks. All went smooth. Had the drives off the boat this winter for servicing and apparently I put them back on correctly as all went well. I clean/fill/smooth/painted the props over winter too and the ride was smoother now.
for some reason one engine ran better than when I shut it down last year, nothing done to it. It used to 'hurdle' when idling (like a saw tooth sine wave if that describes it somewhat).
shifting is not very much better. The shift in the drive is better, the cables/handles are not smooth so there's some research to be done. At least now I know that the drives shift smooth reverse and forward. That was a concern as previous owner neglected many things including the drives.
It's not very comfortable to aim and reverse into the box with this choppy (not smooth) movement of the handles. There's this plus play around the center so takes attention away from the docking procedure itself.
Especially because she's quite fast even when idling. Oh well, another season to practice and get it right.
Also quite some fresh water in the bilge but I expected that. I had turned a drain plug and sheered it right off a heat exchanger. plugged it haphazardly and that leaked or possibly popped out completely, haven't checked yet. There was no time to take the end cap off and get it fixed off the boat. Otherwise the bilge is clean now so no problem pumping it back overboard.

Re: Splash 2022
Glad some people are able to get in. Winnipeg had a three day snow event. Finally stopped snowing. Just checked Kenora, where the boat is, they received 14.2cm yesterday. Looking more like the May long for launch - hopefully.

Re: Splash 2022
I picked up my new boat on Friday. Don't know when I will splash for the first time but probably in 2 weeks. Weather here still not great for boating. This boat I will be trailering so no more marina dockage fees.
