Does anyone know if this box will fit on the swim platform on my 2000 396 aft cabin and, if so, how is it attached to the platform? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would contact the CL poster and ask for dimensions. It may not be the exact same as what would have been on your 396, but it might fit just fine. Also verify if the part facing the transom is curved or not and see if that would match-up well where it would go on your stern.

Can't address your question on how it was bolted on that model, but however you end up doing it make sure it's sealed well where the penetrations go into the swim platform. That is usually a source of water getting into the core if not done correctly.

The oem carver box is 2 parts. Theres the inner liner that is sitting inside the outer. It's just siliconed all around the edges and back. The outer shell has the mounting holes that you would attach it to the back wall and swim platform with screws. So when it's installed and the inner liner is in place you see no mounting hardware. There is a curve to it so it's shaped for 355s 356s and 405s /406s I am unsure about your year and model. Since these are rare to find I hope it might work for you.
