With two engines I would just swap the coils from one engine to the other. Then, if the problem follows the coil, you KNOW the coil was the issue. If the problem just goes away after you replace the suspect coil with a different coil, then you really don't know if it was the coil that was the issue or something else you disturbed while changing the coil.

Anyone know the ohm reading for a new engine coil? My old coil is showing 10.2 primary resistance and new one is 7.5. Supposedly direct replacement.

Forgot to update. Everything seems
Fine once I changed the coil. Did a quick tune up while I was there also. We will see.

Nice to get to the source of the problem you had. enjoy, celebrate!

up to the next... :-D

Small curious question as a non-native speaker: what do you mean with 'a tune-up while you were there? '

As far as the coil resistance, primary should be ROUGHLY .5-3 ohms on primary, secondary 6000-15000 ohms.
This is if your running OEM PCM replacement coils, aftermarkets will usually run a little higher except for high output like Accel, Bosch etc. I installed the Hot-Spark ignition conversion kit in my '76 Carver 3396 with twin 351W, LOVE them. Easy start EVERY time! Much less expensive than Pertronix. Never mess with points again.

I am having a similar issue with my Crusaders. I cannot seem to get enough fuel to the motors so after cleaning several fuel filters and replacing I’ve checked all the lines from the tanks to the valves. They are not clogged. The engines both fail at the same time even when pulling from separate tanks. I have engine cleaned all the screens and remove the anti-siphon valve all together. Any thoughts?
