My 2001 396 Aft Cabin has Hera E1 lights though-out.... about 30 of them. Half the cover rings are crack, missing the locking teeth, etc. I looked for new rings and came up with nothing. Looks like they were discontinued in favor the their LED series back in 2015. I have already switched from the halogen bulbs to LEDs but would like to replace the rings. Has anyone found a solution? Other rings that may fit?, 3D print? I am open to ideas, and don't really want to spend the $50-$100 per fixture to replace working lights. I know I could buy the bulk amazon LEDs units, but I don't trust the quality for marine use....
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Russ

Re: Hera E1 Halogen Light cover rings
There's several of us who have the same fixtures. I was lucky to purchase some new trim rings several years ago before they totally sold all stock. You can try our search feature on here but I don't think anyone ever found a replacement ring. From my recollection they ended up changing fixtures with another brand. Good luck and post a update on your solution if you don't mind.

Even if you find rings, the base becomes brittle with time and will disintegrate on you due to age. My 2007 started to crumble a few years back. These fit like a glove, a direct replacement, look great and are LED. You will need to cut the original wires and splice which is very easy to do. Quality is as good or better than the Hera lights IMHO.

I swapped mine out to the square version of the lights midnightsun has posted. They look pretty good. I did change out all my switch plates to chrome to match in the salon.

Thank you all for the replies! Midnightsun, ironically these were the exact fixtured I had been looking at because the hole size was the same. I was concerned that they would not be good quality because of the price. Thank you and Coldcruisin for sharing how well they worked for you!

Go ahead and order them, you will not be disappointed. Since they come in larger packs, I even have a few left over just in case something happens like busting one with a champagne cork.

Re: Hera E1 Halogen Light cover rings
This is a three year old thread I know, but I should thank Midnightsun too. We're running a Mainship 37 now (still miss the Carver 3207 though) but they use the same Hera E1 lights. The rings are breaking or cracking all over, sometimes they spontaneously fall from the ceiling. I swapped to G4 LED's a few years ago, but the nuclear-hot halogen bulbs had made the rings brittle already. That Amazon link is still good and I just got my first half dozen. Perfect fit, they pop right in, and unless you're specifically looking for a difference, you'd never notice they're not direct replacements for the Heras. Little brighter but still soft white so they don't have that cold, fierce bluish light. Thanks so much. Perfect. Now I can replace all the Heras that are missing the trim rings.Midnightsun wrote:QR_BBPOST Even if you find rings, the base becomes brittle with time and will disintegrate on you due to age.
