Any members out there with an Autopilot installed after purchase?
Looking for feedback on whether this is feasible, worth the effort, handling characteristics of vessel.
If installed, what model did you choose, size of compass card, liquid, digital?
We do some extended cruising and would like to know if this may be an option to add.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is absolutely feasible! And, relatively easy for someone with some mechanical ability, as long as you follow instructions. I would opt for the new Raymarine Autopilots as they do not require a gyro compass any more (the units come as a complete kit...except for hosing and wiring) and are self learning...no need to go out and do countless circles while the autopilot learns where it is.

Have been looking at the Raymarine Evolution EV100
As well as a brushless Garmin.
Garmin GHP 20 with SmartPump.
Will update as we move ahead with decision.

Carver Voyager 320 Autopilot
Capt. Happy - what electronics do you currently have? Many of today's autopilots connect to the existing NMEA port or Ethernet port. The easiest way would be to plug-and-play with an existing head unit. The autopilot shows up in the Multifunction Display (MFD) screen and uses GPS from the MFD and/or radar. 
If you are considering stand-alone autopilot, you may want to consider an upgrade to an integrated system. Lowrance, Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, and even Humminbird make autopilots. Make sure you consider the space required for mounting on and behind the panel - some autopilots take a good deal of space. Check the specs for size and also compatibility with your steering system. Being a red-blooded American guy, I would prefer one with a wireless remote!

Currently are running Furuno NavNet radar along with a Sitex SNS-1000 chart plotter.
Will have to check on available room behind the helm.
Talking home last evening from sea, reports of a foot of snow throughout the day.
Back on land end of January, will run down to the yard and size up what is there for room.
