1994 330 Carver Mariner A/C condensation pan over flowing
My A/C condensation pan is over flowing and is messing up my floor in the galley. I pulled out the galley sink and can't find a drain hose. People have told me that the drain goes to the shower sump. As far as I can see, mine doesn't drain to the shower sump. The forward and star board sides of the pan has plugs. The drain hose must be on the aft or port side of the pan. I am not able to see the aft or port side of the pan without removing the galley counter top. Removing the counter top would require removing the galley stove and disconnecting some wiring. It looks like a major job. I have tried putting vinegar and hydrogen per oxide in the pan without any luck. I have also removed the water with a wetvac. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a fix that I am not seeing?
Thanks,
Johnnie
Thanks,
Johnnie

Stick your phone back there and take some pictures so you can determine what's going on.

Lift the sink, you should be able to see the unit. Mine had a drain hose into the bilge in the outboard forward corner of the AC unit compartment. the pan should drain, your hose is blocked.
I recently replace mine...see: viewtopic.php?p=53843#p53843 for some pics.

The hose for condensate is located on the aft side of the shower sump. Chances are, your float switch crapped out. Also, make sure your breaker for sump is turned on. If you need to replace the float switch, make sure to get the low profile Attwood that is in there. A general float switch is not low enough to avoid the hair filter in the box. Easy fix.

The shower sump is not sealed therefor it will just overflow into the bilge if the float switch is bad. This was my experience with a bad float in the past.

I was not able to find a condensation drain. It doesn’t make sense. I’ve owned this boat for 23 years and it just started leaking water on the floor. I worked with a marine technician and he doesn’t understand it either. We are guessing that there is a drain through the bottom of the drain pan and it became clogged. We ended up putting a hole through the platform that A/C is mounted on and installed a 90 in the inboard side of the pan. Now the condensate is draining to the bilge.

By the way, my shower sump has a switch that has to be on while you take a shower. No float.

My thoughts are that if there is no float in the sump and you have to turn the pump on manually, they would not plumb the condensate drain into it otherwise you'd have to turn the pump on yourself periodically when the AC unit is operating, that wouldn't make sense. If you've owned the boat for 23 years it the unit was draining properly in the bilge all that time up until now, you'd have always seen and smelled water in the bilge.
On the chance that the unit was draining into the sump, I would have taken compressed air and put it through each input of the sump and determined where the air was coming out. If one of them was indeed for the tray, chances are the air would blow out whatever was blocking the line.
I'd be replacing the sump with a newer one that incorporates a float and run that new drain line to it or your next thread will be about a stinky bilge!

Johnnie
old unit - drain feedthru/connection from old MarineAirrree unit
empty compartment - hole to bilge where drain hose went - the hose just dumped into the bilge - had no connections
new unit installed - can see the hole in the outboard forward section
My '93 Mariner 330 - i assume this was the original setup.
Not going to be easy to get to for sure.
Hope this helps
