1986 Carver 42 aft cabin steering
Good morning everyone. I'm new here with a 1986 Carver 42 aft cabin. Wondering if anyone may know where to find a hynautic Inc K1 steering cylinder. I took mine off and shipped it to boat steering solutions in Nokomis FL to be remanned and USPS lost it in route apparently. Thought there maybe a slight chance of one not being used. Boat steering solutions said they didn't have the parts to build one but could reman mine. Any ideas would be great. Sorry for the long first post

If you had (or could get) the specs for it then I'd contact some of the "boat graveyards". There are a few in Florida and the info has been posted in some threads on here. There are some in other states as well, just have to ask around.

Welcome aboard. When you find the spec, contact The Marine Connection in Florida: http://themarineconnection.net/
Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be a Hynautic unit as long as it's the same size and spec. I think you have 1.7 helms but you should confirm, then you match the cylinder to that capacity and the working lengths. Looking for one with the same mount makes for an easier install. Also try contacting Dometic. They will have the info on the Hynautic and the direct replacement part number.... https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoor/contact-us
