Raymarine Depth Fiinder

Post by TruckerTim »

Depth on my older, (original units) Raymarine upper helm unit on my 2000 Voyager 450 the display just shows ---. Trying to track down what this issue is. I have read these displays can/ will go bad but transducers rarely do..?? I may have shut the power off to it at the breaker but turned it back on, so could it just be it needs to be reset?

If the display is bad I assume I can just swap the lower with the upper..?? Any thoughts on how big of a deal that is?

Big madden voyage next weekend and really need a depth finder! Thanks

I have had this issue also and found that a simple reboot solves it 99% of the time. I just flip the sounder breaker off and then back on which normally solves it. good luck. :captain2:

Let's hope! I called Raymarine and they were very helpful. They think the upper depth finder is just a repeater of the lower helm so if it is the display pretty easy, (not cheap) to replace. Thanks

Check your connection points for corrosion or loose while in there.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

What display unit do you have? If you have the classic C80/c120 or the Classic E80/E120 and the display is bad I may can help you out.

I guess you need to figure out if the unit is getting depth info directly from a transducer, or if it's getting it via SeaTalk from another unit.

Do you have identical units up top and down below? Are they multifunction or JUST depth? Are there other electronics that might be integrated into the system (via SeaTalk) that might be providing or using data?

Thanks for the responses. I bought a new (used) display from EBay and plugged it in and works great. Mine on the fly bridge is just a repeater for the pilot house unit.
