ignition alarm beeping when turn key on

Hi all, New to this forum. Looking for any advice. My ignition alarm is beeping when i turn the key on. It was a long beep but now it is a repeating beep that quits when engine starts. 1995 330 mariner 5.7l closed cooling. Thanks for any reply.

Sounds normal to me. Many engines alarm when the key is turned on waiting for the engine to start so it gets an oil pressure signal which when it appears, the alarm goes away. I had this on an older boat with a Mercruiser 7.4L engine. Back then I had a dog on board most of the time and she would freak out when the alarm went off. I did end up putting an adjustable timer on the circuit which had a delay of around a minute which I must assume my dog really liked.

Mine was a 1993 but I believe they incorporated timers later on to eliminate the annoying beep.

The alarm used to be steady until I started the engine. Now it is a rapid beeping. Unusual. Just port side engine. Starboard still steady beep. Maybe nothing to worry about. Gauges all good.

What make engines do you have ? Count the beeps and note the pattern, does it sound after the engine starts and is running, does it do this every time even after a trip with a short stop ?
As with a lot of these issues a quick check and cleaning of grounds and check connectors for corrosion and loose is usually the first shot in the dark...

The engines are 5.7l crusaders. The beeps are a rapid steady until I start the engine, then they stop. Used to be a steady long beep until I started the engine. Just started doing it a few days ago everytime I turn the key on. doesn't matter if it was after a trip or not. Some say impeller issue or clogged filter. I did change the fuel filter. Thanks for you thoughts.

One more question.......did this start after there was some maintenance done around the engines ?

You could also switch the 2 audio sonalert/alarms with each other behind the dash to see if it's the alarm itself or something other needs to be looked at.

No recent maintenance. I did add a little oil to each engine. Also I added some antifreeze. I didn't go in the engine compartment for that. I also noticed the starboard engine is starting to beep also but not as rapid as the port side. But both stop when engines start. Temp and oil gauges are both normal. Thanks for any input.

Mine do 2 beeps when ignition switch turned on. Stops when engine is started. 8.1 VP 2004.
