Boat Insurance

Post by denpooch »

Can you provide me with any recommendations for an insurance policy broker?
My current provider no longer covers boats and I have yet to hear back from my broker.
Thanks,
Dennis

I currently use Markel insurance, I've also had Boat US in the past.

Did you try Boat U/S? I think they usually use Geico, but not 100% sure in all cases.

I've also had Progressive and was fine with that coverage.

My experience with State Farm was just about as bad as it gets. Too long of a story to go into here, but I wasn't impressed.

I ended up going through www.nboat.com and got fast service, a great policy, fewer restrictions and a very competitive price. This was for an "agreed value" policy - not "actual cash value" which some will try to get you into.

Good luck!

I am in Canada, so take it for what it's worth. Nauticlife through Aviva has a good policy. Agreed Value is what you are wanting. Check the personal effects amount & deductible. I had one quote that was going to have a $5800 deductible on my $58,000 boat! Also check to see if vermin are covered.

Just an observation....seems to me the litmus test for insurance is when you have a claim/loss, how was it handled and did you get what you gambled on.
Lots of fine print reading...... :help:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I have Progressive, but through an agent in lieu of online. I had a significant claim 4 years ago, and they were great! Just go to their online page and search for an agent in your area. 8-) er
