Dinette cushions
Upcoming project will be replacing the cushions in the dinette on our 3607. Has anyone used denim as a fabric? Pros/cons? Also, thinking of not replacing the "u" shaped cushion but just covering some body pillows or larger throw pillows. No one sits there as the bulkhead is to low. Thoughts, pros/cons?

Re: Dinette cushions
Wow. Those look like the originals. Mine were the same, only in a velvety crimson red color! We redid them all. The one thing that is tough (that we didn't get right) was the angle on the back of the center cushions, to accommodate the angle of the hull. Ours worked "ok", but could have been better if we had taken that into account. That area was used by smaller kids in our case but that was pretty infrequent. Not sure if you were thinking of replacing both those cushions with pillows, but if you ever needed that as an additional berth then you'd probably want at least the bottom cushion in place. The top cushion, which is very hard to make correctly, could easily be replaced with pillows.
I think denim could look very nice, but I'd be sure to Scotchguard it well before use.

I thought it would be a hard wearing fabric (jeans). Depending on the demin, the feel of it can be quite nice. Easy to find and work with. Just some of my thoughts as to why.

Re: Dinette cushions
I don't plan on making the cushion that rests on the hull. That is where I plan to use loose body pillows or toss cushions. I brought the "seat" cushion home to trace the pattern onto new foam. I guess I will have to consider the angle from the top of the cushion to the bottom, but not sure 2" depth is a big concern. Or is it?

Re: Dinette cushions
Certainly not as big of an issue as the top cushion, but if you put in the effort to accommodate that angle it will fit nicer.
2" sounds thin though... I think the originals were 3". If you go with 2" make sure you use a heavy enough density foam, otherwise the framing on the seat supports will be uncomfortable to the underside of your legs.

You could also use pre-made covers to lay in to that space. I was surprised at how many options were available at my local Bed, Bath & Beyond store. Also Wayfair online has a ton of choices. Would probably find a denim option to match your new sewn on sections. I like the denim idea, but would go to a medium to light color to maintain the spacious feel of the area.

Good to know that the 3" were the original size. We tested out a 4" and it was waaay to thick.
