Still need to know which window style the op has since both styles can be listed as 1998 405's.

Re: 1998 405 Aft Cabin Window Replacement
I have a 92 350 aft ,last September I rebed the port aft window frame and replaced the window felt tracking, it still leaks!! I'm thinking about buying starboard, cutting to same size as window frame, remove window frame and install starboard cover over window opening the install new oval port holes in starboard, tired of this leak

Re: 1998 405 Aft Cabin Window Replacement
Not a reply....questions.
Appreciate the potential help.
1997 355.
Aft cabin rear window removal help ... please
Above the storage locker in the swim deck..the window.
Removed all the screws from the frame....and thinking..that frame should just...pull off. Didn't. Went inside the cabin...removed the sliding window...looking for other.. fasteners perhaps. Seen none. Reinstalled the screws and now asking... .
Do I need to force the frame off? Perhaps use a tool to get behind the metal frame and window and work the frame off?
I don't want to do the wrong thing and potentially causing damage...
I'll be removing, repairs and revealing the aft cabin windows.
Water leak...port side rear corner area and port side....along the ceiling fabric seams near the storage bin...this particular leak...can't be from the window..
WIndow is below the ceiling...so...thinking...coming from the "Wet Bar?" Or the drain hole behind the wet bar/sliding cabin door.
Appreciate the potential help.

Don't forget about the stanchion posts mounted to the deck above the window area, also the roof supports etc.....all things to inspect for possible reseal/rebed.
Hopefully someone with a 355 can definitively answer your window question, my guess would be, it is stuck with sealant/adhesive, but don't take my word.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

And don't forget to check things like cleats. I had a similar situation and blamed it on the starboard ports in the aft cabin, and it ended up being water getting in under the cleat and running down inside the hull.bud37 wrote:QR_BBPOSTDon't forget about the stanchion posts mounted to the deck above the window area, also the roof supports etc.....all things to inspect for possible reseal/rebed.

Re: 1998 405 Aft Cabin Window Replacement
I removed and rebedded my aft cabin port side window and the hatch which serves as a window above the swim platform on my 93 350 ACMY. Both windows came off after unscrewing the fasteners on the outside, and carefully, using a putty knife breaking the seal formed by the bedding caulk. This took a while, just working the knife around and around the frame, carefully prying as I went. Again, this took several hours so as not to crack any gelcoat. I used 4200 to reseal. Hope it lasts as long as tomshauer's has. I plan on doing starboard side this spring.
