Welcome! Let us know what you look at when you do go looking.
If you've never bought a boat before, make sure you pay a surveyor to check the boat out. Most insurance companies require it, but even if your does not, a surveyor is trained to find issues and place a value on the vessel.

What Fred says times 10!!! When we bought our first boat we were rank rookies and the surveyor saved us the many times the cost of his fee in repairs that the seller ended up having to do before delivery.
Another thing we did which also save us some bucks was having a marine mechanic go over the engines. Our surveyor did not do this part but it ended up saving us more in the end.
Enjoy whatever you buy... hopefully your will become part of the Carver gang
