Carver 466 - looking for salon pushout window hardware
Hi team Carver! Hope all is well with everyone and for those of us not in the water yet, here's to patience!!!
I have the 2001 466 MY - the salon has the 2 venting "pushout" windows, port and starboard. they each have the 2 foldout, locking handles. My boat managed to lose 1 of the cap nuts that goes on the exterior of and through the window, screwing onto the rest of the locking handle inside. While I've only just started hunting, it's a very particular nut (double threaded, screws onto the handle and a locking nut screw onto it - pictures attached) and I was wondering if anyone knows of this hardware and where we might be able to get our hands on some. I would just replace the whole handle but it is welded to the rest of the window frame. Something to think about! If anyone has any info please let me know.
Thanks to all, and happy pre-season prep!
Regards,
Dave B

Know anybody with a 3D printer? That wouldn't be that hard of a project.

One other thing to consider....a lot of marine windows and frame parts etc were made by Taylor Made marine. Maybe check them out.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Is that plastic or metal?
Depending on how strong it needs to be you might be able to take a hex cap screw (pictured below) and have it drilled and tapped for the internal threads.

You may find that the company that made that window was is called Bomar/Pompanette. I have discussed window/hatch parts with them over the past couple of years for my boat. The person I dealt with, who was very helpful, was Stephanie Allen at Bomar@pompenette.com at 603-826-5791.
They may have this part on hand.
I hope this helps.

Definitely a good candidate for 3D print. Carbon or ABS for material. Too much trial and error to print without product in hand to test threads once printed. If you know someone that can draw it up in cad or solid works, I could print some out for you in black ABS for free, just pay shipping. They would not turn out as shiny as the originals however I doubt that would make much difference. Your best bet is to find someone local, a friend close by, even better.
If you do find someone local, ask for the file and post it here as it will come in handy in the future for yourself or others here with the same problem.

Re: Carver 466 - looking for salon pushout window hardware
Hi team - my new information is that a company in the UK named http://www.trendmarine.com/ may have made the windows (they apparently made a number of them for Carver boats over the years). I have written to them and the company that handles their apparently voluminous "spare parts" inventory is called https://www.oceanchandlery.com/. They wrote back asking for pics and part # references from the manual I have (Thank you Phrancus!) and said they will get back to me shortly. If this doesn't pan out, while I may try to pursue 3-D printing in my area (thinking about the local Tri-County vocational school!), I will simply get some 1/4" fine stainless nuts, a couple of cap nuts, some rubber washers and "do the needful". I will keep everyone posted.
Thanks to all - won't be long now - can't wait to bounce off my first dock of the season!
