2023 season

Postby throwback2 » April 15th, 2023, 5:00 pm

Got my 28' Carver in for the 2023 season about 1030 this morning.Motors lit right up like they were just shut off. Drove her down to my home and tied up at the dock.Still have to put the arch back on and change some oil but that will get done this week. Anyone else ready to go?

I picked up my new boat Saturday afternoon. Will be trailering so I am pretty much ready to launch. Hope this season is better than last.

I am about 3 weeks away. Just finished compound job, waxing now. Then changing out the run dry impellers, and I am ready to go. Planning May 8th, or 9th. Our weather here has been in the 80's for a week, so that really got the imagination whirling. Getting back to normal temps in the 50's this week, but all the ice is gone. 8-) er

Since I am in covered storage and there are so many boats in there, we get taken out on a schedule. Right now it is around May 16. Pretty good timing since our marina officially opens on the weekend of May 20th.
Cheers, Hans

Ahh the sounds and smells of the boatyard in spring....How I miss getting the boat all shiney and new ready just to have the Jackass nearby get the power washer out on a windy day and blast little bits of old gel and winter dirt for blocks around, the sailors with their black and decker sprayers misting VC 17.... ah the memories.

Have a good season guys.....
The above is strictly my opinion.

They put in our Carver montego 32 on monday
Been out on lake Michigan 2x already, just couldn't wait
Everything started right up just like a dream. not bad for a 30 year old boat!
We did turn off the engines out on the lake, just to enjoy the peace and quiet,
and I of course, opened up the engine compartments just to check things out.
The dripless coupling was dripping like a slow faucet leak, took it in, tightened it right up and
everything is all good...not sure how it even loosen up
weather just turned cold again, but will be back out again shortly

Mostly finished our waxing except for the fly bridge shell. Marina owner asked when I wanted in. Just checking the weather now during the week. They don't do week-ends. Getting close. The water level is good but you can see some debris in the water.

Our weather just turned to crap. 78 on Saturday, 30 today. I started waxing with Meguiar's Pure Wax on Saturday. That stuff goes on like glue in warm weather. Comes off easy though. Storage building owner is turning heat up to 60 this week. That wax is not going to go on very easily in 40 degree temps. At least launching is a short time away. 8-) er
