Venturi Window Leaks

Post by Terra Nova »

Does anybody have or had issues with leaking venturi windows on their boat? I have a 410 Sport Sedan and the hard plastic window leaks along the window channel between the window frame and fiberglass. I had the window removed, re-set and, seals replaced but still have the issue. New canvas so that is not the issue. The water leaks at the base of the window and I can see water drops form along the seal. It then takes a channel through the inside of the boat. Eventually the water falls into the helm where all the electronics and wires are stored. I lost the VHF radio from water damage now and worried I could lose the helm controls.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not familiar with those windows, but are there drains at the bottom of the window? Mine(different boat) had drains that appeared to be working fine but when there was a heavier rain I'd get water inside the boat. Eventually I got around to pulling out the old "cat whisker" window seals and found all kinds of gunk in the track below where the water was supposed to run to the drains. Once I cleaned all that out the drains worked much better! (and I never got water inside again).

Posting some pics might get you better feedback.

Thanks - There are no drains. The water is supposed to sheet from the canvas directly to the window and then on to the fiberglass. I had the all the window reset, gaskets redone and new caulking. But somehow water keeps getting in. I was thinking of drilling holes at the low point in the track (port and starboard sides) to act as drains but not sure that will work.

Hey Terra Nova, I'm having the exact same problem on my Carver 350. Were you able to find a solution to stop the leaking? Thanks
