just picked up an decent 1985 Santa Cruz 26. seems mechanically sound. Needs a good cleaning. Been sitting for a while, so i'm sure i'll find some gremlins:)
Welcome aboard. Typically, the hull below water line is solid. About 6" above the waterline, there is a balsa core. I am not 100% sure on the 85's. A moisture meter would be recommended to determine any intrusion. Good luck. er
Cooler By The Lake
( All weather people have to say this on air, near lakes )
so, turns out it's a 1981 santa cruz. no big deal, still an old boat either way.
fuel tank is leaking, and needs to come out. seems like there might be room enough to remove it without cutting deck or removing engine. anyone ever take this on in one of these boats? probably going to replace with a plastic tank.
He took an '80 vintage of that model and did extensive renovation. You're not anticipating anything near that complicated, but some of the pics might give you some ideas and some inspiration.
