1984 Carver 3607. The rode locker does not appear to have any anchor points to secure the bitter end of the rode. PO simply ran the rode through a board and tied a knot into the bitter end.
What have any of you done to secure your rode on this vessel?

Just use one of the bolts securing the windlass in place (using a plate with a hole), pretty sure that's how mine was done or maybe it was the cleat fastener that was used. Regardless, there should be a few options in there.

Re: Securing bitter end of anchor rode
That's exactly how my 3607 was done too. Nothing really wrong with that. All you're trying to do is prevent the bitter end from leaving the boat. The rode should be secured on a cleat or a bitt when you're anchored, so there really is never any tension on that bitter end.JeffandErin wrote:QR_BBPOST 1984 Carver 3607. If you're using the rode locker under the forward berth, there is no place else to secure it there unless you create one. If you secure it somewhere else, you're going to have to forego using that locker.

Re: Securing bitter end of anchor rode
I replaced my rode two seasons ago. The original (as far as I know) had nothing to keep it from dropping in the water!
I bought a 1 1/2" x 3" long stainless pipe nipple, pulled the rode through and tied it off in a loop, so to speak.
