Air Con Replacement on 2005 Carver 33 SS

Post by TurboWarp »

Salutations to all Carver owners,

I am the original owner of a 2005 33 SS. Air Con unit is still working quite well but I have often wondered how long it can last. Though I have owned this boat for a long time I still don't know how the AC unit is replaced/accessed for replacement.

Anyone know?

Thanks...

Really depends on how it was run in the past. If previous owners were good about keeping the water flowing good and using it mostly in cooling mode then it could easily last 30 years. However if someone let the strainers clog up or (if in salt water) let growth happen inside the heat exchanger then getting 10 years might be a blessing.

Yes, totally agree. Some owners leave systems, AC included, on all the time. That translates to numerous cycles for no purpose. If you are running AC only when needed, then it should have longer life. Those units are pretty tough if maintained and used efficiently. My original unit is still running, but it is getting a little noisy. Air flow and water flow is the key to longevity. 8-) er
