Potential "newbie"
Having spent some time looking at a variety of vessels from 30' to 46" I'm now narrowed my interest to Carvers; in particular Carver 4207's. But, and it a big but, I'm trying to find out if the 1987 Carver 4207 has a solid fiberglass hull or does it suffer from the bane of boat owners, a "cored hull". I sailed out of Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda for many years and have spent a fair bit of time in boat yards. Cored hulls are easily damaged and the process is not endearing to the longevity of the boat. So, does anyone out there know when Carver phased out their cored hulls? I'm looking at a 4207 this weekend so.........who knows, I may transition from a potential newbie to a full fledged newbie.

Re: Potential "newbie"
Welcome aboard. My 3807 is a 1989 and has a solid hull with the Top Hat stringer system so no core below the water line.

Re: Potential "newbie"
Somewhere on this site is a thread that covers this. IIRC, none of the "07" series (3207, 3607, 4207) had any coring below the waterline, and I think none had any below the rubrail (other than the swim platform).

The stringers are fiberglass as well.
Where will you use the 4207?
If big water. I strongly suggest something with big diesels.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck on your search.
Fyi...check the glassed in supports for the shaft struts and rudders if they have them.....newer ones had composite but that one IDK.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Agree with diesels. I used to have a 3807 with 7.4 Mercs. It was a dog. I can’t imagine a 4207 with gassers.

Re: Potential "newbie"
Our 4207 had 330hp mercruisers. Unfortunately was in some very bad weather, big waves on Lake Michigan. It was dangerous. Loved the boat, but it needed 500hp cats.
Thanks
