Ozarks

Post by Cooler »

Is there anyone here who could help me determine where I should go for winter? Thinking somewhere in the Ozarks for Feb and March, but don't know where to go. Condo in Sunset Beach NC got flooded again, so new location away from the ocean. Thanks! 8-) er

As someone who stays on their boat in Lake of the Ozarks, I can give you some quick info on the place. Feb-March definitely off-season. No crowds. Most lake restaurants are closed but not all. Other great restaurants are open year-round. This time of year rentals will be plentiful and very reasonable (on or off the lake.). Lake level is drawn down 12’ to make shore repairs but that is not a problem for fishing or most boat traffic. Check out places in Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, Camdenton etc. You may also want to consider Branson, Table Rock Lake.

Thanks Tom. What is the climate like at that time of year? Temps, rainfall, average number of days for sunshine? Are you aware of any agents who handle monthly rentals. Scared to death of online offerings. They are usually not what is expected when I get there. Thanks again! 8-) er

I only know our marina manager of housing. Big Thunder Vacation Rentals 573-365-4077 Monica Gust. There are several houses with many options. The weather is cool but mostly sunny. I would expect temps between 40-70. It will rain but probably only a couple days in a month.

There is another place not very well known called Port Elsewhere (573-365-4077). They have two room suites with full kitchens. The units are lakeside, clean, but a little dated. We have found them to be very reasonable.

There is so much available housing this time of year, I would not hesitate to just show up and shop around. As you look around for a place, in my mind the biggest consideration is how close you want to be to civilization. You could be 15 miles off a main road or less than a 1 mile from the Bagnell Dam Strip. There is over 1,000 miles of shoreline, so a lot of options.

Good Luck! Tom

We live in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, but have a boat on table rock Lake. It’s near Branson, it’s beautiful. Kimberling city is a main hub on the lake. You might want to give that some consideration.
