I have the two water lines that go from the motor to the hot water tank. They get warm when the engine is running. I want to stop that system. Should I make a loop without the hot water tank or just cap the two lines?

All depends on how the previous owner set it up. To be safe, create a loop.

You have a few options if you don't want to utilize the water tank heating feature while the engines are running.

You can cap the lines, loop them so fluid runs thru them from the engine and returns to the engine ......or the way I would recommend.....follow the lines to the engine they originate from , remove/disconnect them and plug the fittings there. That way you can leave the lines in place in case there is a game plan change ( use them to pull new hose if needed etc ), and there will be no chance of the abandoned lines leaking at some point.

I agree with above responses, but I'm curious. Why do you want to stop using that system?

The boat is 35 years old, i dont need old things in the boat that could go very wrong, and i dont use.
