Hello friends,
I hope everyone is well. Apologies in advance if I’m in the wrong section. I took possession yesterday of my 1987 Carver Mariner 3297….she’s fires right up, super excited to begin work on her.
Ok, the needle in the fuel gauge is missing…can I replace the gauge, get it repaired or find an original?????
Thank you for your help in advance.
Kindly,
v/r,
Stephen

Re: Fuel gauge needle
If you can, post a close up pic of the dashboard/helm gauges as they may not be original. It would help to have a visual.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Fuel gauge needle
You can replace it but you'll need to know the resistance value of the current one or check the resistance range of the sender in the fuel tank. If the resistance spec of the new gauge doesn't match the sender, you won't get a correct reading. Check the face of the gauge or the back for a brand and model. A pic would help too.
You can also check retailers on-line like Great Lakes Skipper... https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/, they may have old stock. Also check marine salvage yards and marinas that were Carver dealers.

Re: Fuel gauge needle
Hey guys,
I’ve seen other pictures of Carver boats with this fuel gauge on it….and those needles have seemed to have disappeared as well. anyways, do you know where I can find this gauge?

Re: Fuel gauge needle
That's a common model Teleflex gauge used in a lot of older applications. The needle is probably there but hiding just below the bottom half of the face. I assume you have enough fuel in the tank to actually register on the gauge? Do you have one or two fuel gauges? If you have two and the other one works, you can swap one with the other and see if anything registers.
