I have a Northstar 6000i GPS that was originally mounted on my dashboard. I no longer use it as it is so outdated. I see that it has a video input and was thinking that it would make a great back up screen. Does any know if there is a video camera availible that is compatible with this unit?
This is from the maual:
The Northstar 6000i can display video
signals from a variety of sources. TV
cameras, videotape, and DVD players all
can display their images on the 6000i’s
screen as long as the signals conform to
NTSC or PAL standards.

Re: Northstar 6000i
With that info from the manual. It's pretty simple to find a camera. I would look at a 12vdc security camera with video out probably a rca type fitting if it's not and is a bnc connector that will work too just need a bnc to rca adapter to be compatible with the Northstar video input. Something like this even...https://a.co/d/1h3V1TA Or this https://a.co/d/crWGbce
https://a.co/d/654Mqv2. , you could even do wireless but youll still have to run a line to power the camera ...

For that small amount of money I'll give one of those a try.
There already is a cable there but no camera and the other end is in under the dashboard. with the end cut off.

That's basically what I hooked up to my Raymarine E-120 display. $30 Canadian and it's awesome, sure beats paying $500 or more for one of the big marine brand cameras. I got a 4-in-1 type camera, chances are one of the video formats will work for you, just keep switching until you get an image. Stick with a hard-wired type IMO.
BTW, if you're considering a camera designed for home security that uses a 120V AC to 12V DC power supply rather than a camera specifically made for a 12V marine application, you should also consider buying a rectifier/filter similar to this...
